Bringing Entrepreneurs Together in our Community Over a Million Cups of Coffee

Posted by Eau Claire Area EDC on April 5th, 2019

What started out as an idea between several community partners several years ago has now blossomed into a community movement that is two years into its progression. Lead by several community members throughout both private and public sectors, this free program that was developed by the Kauffman Foundation has been running for 2 years in April. 1 Million Cups (1MC) is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.

Eau Claire’s chapter of 1MC is organized by a team of volunteers including:

  • Ann Rupnow, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Coordinator at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
  • Diane Wolfe, business owner of Erbert and Gerbert’s Brand
  • Ben Zugay, Program Director of Entrepreneurship at Chippewa Valley Technical College
  • Amy Meuhlbauer, from the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Christina Wasson, Marketing and Program Manager of the Ear Claire Area EDC
  • Brandon Nall, owner of Nall Imaging

Every Wednesday at 9:00a, members of the entrepreneurial community come together to listen to the story behind an entrepreneur at the Chippewa Valley Technical College’s Business Education Center located at 620 Clairemont Ave.

Why attend 1 Million Cups?

Every week dozens of local students, entrepreneurs, and community members come together and listen to an entrepreneurial story – often from a local business.

“The goal behind 1 Million Cups is to bring our entrepreneurial community together so they can share ideas, support one another, and connect in a safe and inclusive environment” stated Christina Wasson, Project and Marketing Manager of the Eau Claire Area EDC.

More than just a weekly event, individuals who attend 1 Million Cups walk away feeling energized and connected to local businesses.
