Quality of Place

Culture and Recreation

The Eau Claire area has a perfect combination of urban and rural environments, providing the things people value most. Eau Claire has all the amenities of a large metropolitan area, without the congestion, noise and stress.

We enjoy a healthy and diverse economy, high quality medical care, excellent schools at all levels and plenty of choices for retail shopping as well as cultural and community activities.

While we have metropolitan amenities, at the same time the area offers the comforts and conveniences of small town life, affordable housing, low crime, friendly people, low traffic, low cost of living, many community arts events, civic groups and church denominations.

The Chippewa Valley, as our area is often referred to, combines natural beauty, history, outdoor and family entertainment turning it into a relaxing and enjoyable lifestyle. We are fortunate to have four distinct seasons with outdoor recreational activities offering year-round fun.

Few regions can boast of so many quality lakes and streams within an hour of their residential neighborhoods. The 19-county Indianhead Area is nationally known and offers 2,500 lakes, 11 state parks, three state recreation trails, 700 trout streams and countless resorts.

The Region supports some of Wisconsin's most beautiful rural and urban parks and pathways. The many miles of bike trails provide bikers, skaters and pedestrians with a beautiful scenic route. In addition the area provides miles and miles of groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails.
