The Creating Your Own Business Contest
This annual business plan competition conducted by the EDC is a nationally recognized program. The contest has led to the creation of over 360 jobs in the Eau Claire area. The contest begins in January and ends in September. There are a variety of sponsorships available:
Contest Sponsor—This category receives recognition in all CYOB marketing pieces. They are recognized at the business plan seminar in March and the awards ceremony in September. This sponsorship is valued at $1,000 and an unlimited number of sponsorships are available.
Youth Business Award Sponsor—This category is for businesses started by individuals 18 years of age or younger. This sponsor presents this award to the winner. This sponsorship is valued at $500 and is limited to only one sponsor.
Awards Ceremony Sponsor—At the awards ceremony in September, the EDC announces the winners of the CYOB contest. The awards ceremony sponsors are recognized during the presentation of awards. This sponsorship is valued at $250 and an unlimited number of sponsorships are available.
The Paragon Economic Impact Award
The Paragon Economic Impact Award is given annually to a local business that shows the greatest commitment to the economic development of the Eau Claire area for that given year. This sponsor presents the award at the EDC annual meeting. They also receive recognition on all Paragon Economic Impact Award media and materials. The $500 sponsorship helps to defray the cost of the physical award and is limited to one sponsor.
The EDC Annual Meeting
The EDC investors and area business leaders highlight the accomplishments of the EDC over the past year and discuss its plans for the future. Sponsors of the annual meeting will be recognized during the meeting, acknowledged inside the program and annual report. There are an unlimited number of sponsorships available for the annual meeting. The sponsorship is valued at $500.
Quarterly Newsletters
The EDC produces four newsletters (spring, summer, fall and winter) and one annual report each year. The newsletter provides updates on EDC staff activities and the Eau Claire economy as it relates to area manufacturers and EDC investors. The publication is distributed to over 650 business and community leaders. Each newsletter has space for a 1/2-page ad on the back cover. One sponsorship is available for each newsletter. The sponsorship is valued at $500.
Eau Claire Economic Profile
Over the course of the year, the EDC produces the Eau Claire Economic Profile. The profile is directly mailed to 650 business and community leaders and distributed at various trade shows, seminars, and conventions. Sponsorship helps defray costs associated with graphic design and printing. Sponsors of the profile will receive recognition in the publication and press release associated with it. Sponsors will also receive 100 free copies of the sponsored publication. Sponsorships of an EDC publication are valued at $350 and an unlimited amount of sponsorships are available.
