EDC Services
How can the EDC help me advance my new product or service idea?
You can submit an idea through the Idea Challenge where EDC staff will review your idea and help you identify next steps. Technical and financial assistance is available for ideas that have strong market viability. There is a form on our website you can fill out and submit to our staff, or print out the pdf on the website and send it in or drop it off at our office. Click on Idea Pathway and go to Idea Challenge to find the form.
How is the EDC funded?
The EDC is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) corporation funded by county-wide public and private partners, receiving operating revenues from annual investments, sponsorships, events, and state grants. For a list of investors or for information about becoming an investor, see the Investors section in About Us.
What exactly does the EDC do and when would I need their services?
The EDC focuses on three main areas – Area Business Development, Critical Talent, and Business Recruitment – to grow the economy of Eau Claire County and the City of Eau Claire. The EDC works with local companies to help them grow, assists entrepreneurs and inventors bring new product and services to the marketplace, builds relationships with people who are connected to this region to make sure they’re aware of opportunities here, and works with commercial real estate firms and companies outside the area to bring new business here.
Is the EDC part of the Chamber?
No. The EDC is a separate corporation with its own board of directors, staff, budget, etc. The EDC is a member of the Chamber, and the Chamber is an investor in the EDC.
Is the EDC a government entity?
No. The EDC is a 501 (c)(6) non-profit organization that is partially funded by the public entities in Eau Claire County.
